Pinpointing mission destinations is traditionally difficult owing to the remote nature of the communities we serve. With modern technologies, however, we can now do just that! We can pinpoint the exact locations of the communities, the homes, and sights.

Traveling through Nicaragua is slow, even the Pan-American Highway is stop-and-go from border to border across the country. Leaving the capital city of Managua, we traveled up through the Boaco region and out through Juigalpa and eventually to the small city of El Ayote.

Our service was in the South Caribbean Coast Autonomous Region in two communities (Banco Di Sikia about 20km east of El Ayote and Nawawasito, 10km east of Banco). This drive from Managua is about 8.5 hours by truck over heavy mountainous terrain. The drive from El Ayote to Banco De Sikia is another hour and Nawawasito is an additional 45 minutes.

This map shows the detailed view of the communities we served and where the filters were either installed or distributed. None of the roads here are paved, so everywhere we go is by truck or Land Cruiser.
