Melt and set aside:
- 5 Tablespoons Shortening
Sift together in Bowl:
- 1 cup flour
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 Tbsp baking powder
- 1 tsp Salt
Mix in:
- 1 Cup Yellow Corn meal
Set dry ingredients aside.
Mix until blended
- 1 egg
- 1 Cup Milk
Blend in melted shortening
Make a well in center of dry ingredients. Add liquid mixture all at one time. Beat with a rotary beater until just smooth, beingg careful not to overmix. Turn mix into pan and bake at 425 for 20 minutes.
