Pretzel Pigs in Blankets

I found this recipe/technique in the Spring of 2017 and thought it might be interesting.  HOLY COW!  Make these for your next tailgate or appetizer and you’re the hero.  No joke…these things are addictive…

Pretzel Pigs in Blankets

  • Canned Pizza Dough (I used Pillsbury)
  • Cocktail Franks
  • 1/4 Cup Baking Soda
  • Sea Salt (or Pretzel Salt)
  • Egg Wash (1 egg beaten with 2 Tbsp water)

Bring 5 cups of water to a boil, add baking soda.

Cut Pizza dough into 1/2″ wide strips, stretch and wrap around cocktail franks, boil in batches for 20-30 seconds, pull and allow to dry.

Brush with egg wash & sprinkle with salt.

Bake for 15 minutes at 425.  Serve with yellow or brown mustard.
