All season I have tried to figure out the logic of the “Title Odds Rankings” given by the Las Vegas Sports Consultants. I finally got it figured out…this ranking is of the teams Vegas seems to believe have an actual path to the championship. The reason for this is that Vegas dropped the Florida Gators out of the poll after a close loss on the road to Kentucky while Ole Miss and Arkansas remain in the poll after blowout losses this week. Arkansas and Ole Miss still have a path to the SEC Championship Game WITHOUT help from another team. Florida will require help fromRead More →

Vegas said TCU was underrated last week. Welp…maybe that loss to SMU was simply a hiccup, but maybe not? This week sees the Florida Gators move OUT of that Overrated category (much to the delight of the author here), and sees Fresno State pop into it…the Bulldogs still aren’t quite on Vegas’ board just yet. And… WELCOME BACK to our perennially most overrated team: Notre Dame! (in the Underrated category). We’re not sure what happened there, but we’ve opened an investigation. Team Vegas Ranking Polling Average Index Fresno State Unranked 19.5 -5.5 Penn State 10 5 -5 UCLA Unranked 20 -5 Ole Miss 16 12Read More →

Well, Week 3 promised entertainment and it certainly delivered. Bama vs. Florida was an epic battle, Penn State hosted Auburn AND the SEC officiating office…and the ACC went all ACC on us. Alabama @ Florida – Gators are good, maybe really good. South Carolina @ Georgia – Gamecocks are not good, and they need a QB in the worst way UCF @ Louisville – When Gus Malzhan is your coach, it WILL be interesting Maryland @ Illinois – Hey Nebraska… Nebraska @ Oklahoma – Sooners are in real trouble, I think. Georgia Tech @ Clemson – Does Clemson have an offense? Cincinnati @ Indiana –Read More →

Game notes play-by-play Overall: Florida and Alabama both have bigtime players who make plays. Florida’s Emory Jones and the running back by committee continually frustrated and battered Alabama’s defense. Alabama’s Will Anderson is an amazing player, and so is Florida’s Gervon Dexter, who both had exceptional games. Alabama @ Florida Game Breakdown TL/DR Stats 1st Qtr Alabama Ball (1st Drive) 1st & 10 @ UA 25 – Give to RB4 – Gain of 5 Looks like Moon has QB responsibility & goes that way RB4 cuts underneath and where DT should be 2nd & 5 from UA 30 – Screen pass right to WR18 –Read More →

Welp, even the guys in Vegas get it wrong periodically…or they are just sandbagging the betting public. The latter of which seems to be more applicable. The Oregon Ducks were our most “overrated” team last week, but waltzed into the Horseshoe and handled the Buckeyes. The only reason the game was close is that Mario Crisobal and Joe Morehead decided to throw the ball. Team Vegas Rank Polling Average Index UCLA 25 13 -12 Wisconsin 23 17.5 -5.5 Arizona St. Unranked 20 -5 North Carolina 24 20 -4 Virginia Tech 19 15 -4 Arkansas Unranked 22 -3 Penn St. 14 11 -3 Team Vegas RankRead More →

If Week 1’s results were “incomplete,” then Week 2 is show prep for the meat of the schedule. Conference games will begin in earnest this week. The biggest conference game on the slate will be at 3:30pm EST in Gainesville, Florida. The #1 ranked Alabama Crimson Tide will come calling on the #11 Florida Gators (you can watch the festivities on CBS). The non-conference games are still around, though, Auburn is at Penn State this week, and we have an old rivalry renewed with Nebraska at Oklahoma (not that it’ll be much of a contest…). Back to the topic at hand though, what did weRead More →

If you have watched any college football over the past several years, you know that this Alabama program…as it is being run right now…is the best in the history of the sport. They have 4- and 5-star athletes at every position and are coached by the greatest head coach in history of college ball. Miami has average talent coached by Manny Diaz and Rhett Lashley…average coaches at best. This game wasn’t close, was never going to be close, and anybody who thought otherwise was either A) shilling for the broadcast ratings, or B) a delusional Miami fan.Read More →

The Gators rang-up 400 yards rushing Saturday night. That’s a good stat regardless of who you’re playing. Jones, Richardson, Davis and Pierce gashed, plowed and steamrolled FAU defenders consistently. When they weren’t running through defenders, they were hurdling them.Read More →
